MARK SOLOMON
DIRECTORMark’s working journey began on his family’s orchards in Hawke’s Bay and later took him across several industries in New Zealand and overseas. In 2003, he joined DSK Engineering, where he completed his apprenticeship in sheet-metal fabrication and progressed to become a Senior Engineer. Over the following 11 years, Mark developed extensive experience in stainless-steel fabrication, process pipework, mechanical installation and industrial project delivery.
In 2014, Mark established his own engineering contracting business, building the experience, industry relationships and trusted contractor network that would become the foundations of SGP Engineering. In 2020, he co-founded SGP Engineering with a vision of creating a specialist engineering company capable of delivering industrial projects throughout New Zealand and across the Pacific.
Today, Mark combines more than two decades of hands-on engineering experience with a genuine client-first approach. As SGP’s technical lead, he provides practical guidance and project oversight, helping ensure quality workmanship, clear accountability and effective solutions from concept through to completion.
Outside engineering, Mark has a long history in rugby as both a player and coach and continues to support local youth sport through rugby and softball. The values strengthened through sport—teamwork, dedication and resilience—continue to influence the way he leads projects, supports clients and brings teams together.

nicole SOLOMON
OPERATIONS MANAGERNicole brings experience in executive administration, project coordination and business operations across several industries. A particularly influential stage of her career was working within the Engineering, Electrical and Projects Department at Heinz Wattie’s while also providing executive support to the Asia Pacific General Manager. This gave her valuable insight into large-scale manufacturing, engineering projects and executive leadership.
Having also lived and worked in Scotland and Australia, Nicole brings adaptability and a broad perspective to her role. For more than 12 years, she played an active role behind the scenes of Mark’s earlier engineering contracting business, supporting its development before joining SGP Engineering full-time in 2023.
Today, Nicole is the operational force behind SGP, ensuring every project is supported by strong systems, careful planning and effective coordination. She oversees contractor logistics and mobilisation, freight, accounts, compliance, client communication and the internal processes that keep projects organised and moving forward. Passionate about continuous improvement, Nicole continually looks for better ways to streamline operations, strengthen relationships and support SGP’s long-term growth.
Outside work, Nicole is a proud mum of four and nana to one. Family is central to her life and influences the family-first culture she helps foster at SGP—a culture built on genuine care, mutual respect and lasting relationships.
